American convoys driving this road in Afghanistan are not allowed to stop for any reason. They are on the lookout and armed with the latest intelligence. Foot patrols on the other hand, are completely exposed at all times as they move through cities, towns and other areas. Like all infantry platoons, they work closely together and are aided by modern communication technology.
