The Taliban were the most recent group to torture, murder and lock up their enemies in the Jalalabad Prison in Afghanistan. Earlier years saw the facility being used for similar purposes by different military forces. Stories on the Internet describe random shooting outside the prison in 1978 as routine business for the Communist government in power then. Today you can hear the birds sing as the grounds serve as an Afghan National Army base.
