Afghan boy with scarf in med line - by: Tim King
Many children in Afghanistan begin their days in sub-freezing temperatures. They almost never wear jackets or gloves, and warm hats are a rarity even in fiercely cold conditions. The ever present scarf is a more frequently used item for staying warm, and they can be worn in a number of different ways to accommodate different needs.
