This helicopter represents the newer aspects of the U.S. military while the CH-47 hearkens back to the Vietnam years. Blackhawks have many sophisticated flight and weapons systems that allow greatly enhanced capabilities. The Oregon Guard's squadron of Blackhawk helicopters when not in war, are based in Salem.
